101 - when to use it

This number is the easy-to-use number that you now call to get through to the Police to report something other than an emergency.

For example - If you see a group of people acting in an anti-social way that unnerves you, or you feel might get out of hand, then call this number and report it.

Also, you should use it

if you find a crime has been committed and it is after the event.

Note that at the moment 101 works in Northamptonshire - use

03 000 111 222 from outside the county for Northants Police.  (101 also works locally in some other areas of the UK.)
